Fairbanks

Today we take an afternoon train from Denali to Fairbanks. Its another 4 hour train ride. Once in Fairbanks we have 2 tours, and decide to do one on our own. First is a trip to the "North Pole" and Santa's house. . Next is a tour of the Eldorado Gold Mine. What a fun place! We all were panning for gold and found some. We also had a stop at the Alaska Pipe Line. The next day we did a ride on a boat to the Athabascan Indian camp. We saw more sled dogs, and learned how to smoke salmon. We also saw Dixie Alexander, who did the most gorgeous bead work on a variety of things. Her work is even in the Smithsonian. Sadly this afternoon we must head for home as its the end of our Alaskan trip.
