The Big Bell Tower

This tower has the largest bell in China and the second largest in the world.

The temple has now been turned into a museum of bells. 
 

 

The bells are from different periods, different sizes, shapes and for different purposes

This large bell was cast in 1406 and was hung first and then the tower was built around the frame.

The Summer Palace

 

The Summer Palace is in the north-western outskirts of Beijing.  It has a hill, lake, towers, galleries, pavilions, bridges and islands.

Suzhou Market Street was especially put there for the imperial family.

When imperial nobles came to visit, eunuchs dressed as tradesmen and pretended to do business to please their masters.
