Puerto Limón in Costa Rica dates back to 1502.  The army was permanently abolished in 1948 and in 1983, the country made an official proclamation of neutrality.

We decided to take a jungle river eco-adventure.  This would take us past banana plantations and small villages.  We also had a cruise through the jungle canals, on Mawamba boats.  It decided to rain a little that day, which meant that we didn’t see as many animals as we might have liked, but it was still nice.
