We
just returned from a trip that included the highlands of Scotland, and
parts of
England. We landed at
Glasgow and then drove to Loch Awe, via the village of Luss, located on
the banks of Loch Lomond. Luss
is known for its picturesque and colorful stone cottages.
There is also a lovely tea room there that I can highly
recommend. Then
we chose to use the “Rest and be thankful” route which goes t hrough
Inverary. It’s a lovely
drive with some
views of rugged mountains and very green pastures.
Continuing along the top of Loch Awe we had to make a turn at
Taynuilt and followed a single-track road for seven miles <which is a
passing adventure in itself> towards the tiny village of Kilcherenan
and then to the Taychreggan Hotel, where we'll be attending a Scottish
wedding. Click
here to see the wedding photos. I
will post some now of this part of our trip and more as I get them
finished. I do hope you
enjoy
them. ;o)

Oban
is one of Scotland’s leading coastal resorts.
It was a busy fishing port in the 18th century, but
now is heavily dependent on tourism.
These photos were taken on a Friday morning and there were lots
of tourist busses and people on the street.

I took these just
because I liked the view. The Rhododendroms were in bloom and
gorgeous. I've never seen such HUGE bushes of them. Sheep
are the hardest thing to photograph! If they see you, usually all
you get is a great shot of a tail. This little one surprised both
of us.

Inveraray is a
small resort and royal burgh which occupies a splendid location on the
upper shores of Loch Fyne.
